Electron microscopic localisation of upregulated extra cellular matrix influencing gene products in colorectal carcinoma

DN Kenwright
Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine

Ethical approvals were obtained.  Tissue collection has commenced and 15 patients have donated tissue to the study. This has been processed for electron microscopy and light microscopy.

Initial non stained electron microscopy is ready to be undertaken.  ADAMS-2 and LTBP-3 antibodies have been purchased and initial gold labelled immunostaining has been attempted.  There are some methodological problems that have yet to be sorted out.  The antibodies are currently being tested on formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue before gold immuno labelling is attempted again.

More patients are expected to be enrolled in the next three months to complete our enrolment of 20 patients.
